Hanau Shootings - February 19, 2020

Hanau, Germany, February 19, 2020 "Tobias Rathjen targeted "hookah bars in parts of Hanau with large immigrant populations." "Around 10 p.m. on February 19, 2020, the 43-year-old Rathjen opens fire at La Votre café and bar. He kills an employee behind the counter. He leaves La Votre and shoots to death a man on the sidewalk. He fires into the neighboring Midnight Bar, killing the owner. Rathjen runs off and shoots at the car of a Roma man named Vili Viorel Păun. Rathjen flees. Păun gives chase in his car and tries to contact the police. Parks his car about four miles away. Rathjen finds Păun. Murders Păun as he sits in his car. Rathjen enters a nearby kiosk. Shoots to death three people. Enters a neighboring bar. Kills two more people. Not finished, Rathjen returns to his apartment. Murders his 72-year-old White mother. Turns the gun on himself." How many people were injured/killed & racial/ethnic/religious makeup of the victims: Rathjen murders nine people and wounds six more. Rathjen murders four German citizens, two of Kurdish ancestry, one of Sinti ancestry, one of Afghan ancestry. He shoots to death two Turkish immigrants, a Bosnian immigrant, a Bulgarian immigrant, and a Romanian immigrant.
