Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, the Vnatrešna makedonska revolucionerna organizacija – Demokratska partija za makedonsko nacionalno edinstvo (VMRO-DPMNE) candidate, won the 2024 presidential election. The party's opposition coalition, Your Macedonia, won the 2024 parliamentary election, securing 43.32% of the vote and 58 seats in the Assembly of the Republic. In the 2019 presidential election, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova had lost to the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM) candidate. In the 2020 parliamentary election, VMRO-DPMNE's Renewal coalition finished second behind SDSM's We Can coalition (46 seats, 35.89% of the vote) with 44 seats and 34.57% of the vote.
