Kast and his PRCh rose in power in the 2025 elections. Kast won the presidential run-off election in December with 58.2% of the vote, becoming Chile's president-elect. Kast was inaugurated president in March 2026. In the 2025 parliamentary elections, held in November, the PRCh’s Change for Chile coalition came in second place behind the Unity for Chile coalition in both the National Congress and Senate, amassing the most seats of any single party in both houses. PRCh’s Change for Chile coalition won 42 of 155 total seats in the National Congress (31 of which were won by PRCh candidates) and 6 seats of 23 available seats in the Senate (5 of which were won by PRCh candidates). In 2021, PRCh (then known as PLR) belonged to a two-party coalition called the Christian Social Front, which won 15 of the 155 available seats (fourth place) in the Chamber of Deputies and 1 of the 27 available seats (fifth place) in the Senate. Kast lost to Gabriel Boric in the 2021 presidential election by a margin of 4.6 million votes to 3.6 million votes.
